ASME VOLT Academy Preparing Future Volunteer Leaders

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) seeks to design solutions to world challenges and promote skills development and knowledge sharing across various engineering professions. To achieve its objectives, ASME has various programs, including the VOLT (Volunteer Orientation & Leadership Training) Academy. The VOLT Academy allows volunteers to enhance their leadership skills within society. VOLT allows ASME members to volunteer their time and service to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers in their personal or professional capacity. ASME volunteers are drawn from multiple backgrounds and have diverse skills.

Throughout the year, VOLT Academy has various leadership training and orientation activities for ASME volunteers. Some activities include general leadership development workshops and specialized training for different ASME units and volunteer leaders across the society. The diverse membership with various skills allows the society to achieve its objectives. The academy expects volunteer members to execute their duties and responsibilities in line with the offices or positions they’ve been entrusted with. Additionally, VOLT ensures volunteers and members fully understand the strategic importance of their positions in supporting ASME’s mission and vision.
